Lothian Buses Reintroduces Route 32 Between Cramond and Balerno

CRAMOND – Lothian Buses has announced the reintroduction of the 32 bus service, which will now travel between Cramond and Balerno. This new route is set to commence on Monday, 1st July, according to the transport operator.

The original Lothian buses 32 service, which used to operate between Clovenstone and Granton, was discontinued by the company some time ago. The reintroduced service aims to enhance connectivity across key areas in the west of the city.

The new 32 bus route will run hourly from Monday to Saturday, starting at 06:38 from Cramond Place, with the last service departing at 20:39.

Initially, the service will travel down Maybury Road. However, there are future plans to divert all bus routes through West Craigs via Turnhouse Round and Craigs Road to improve accessibility for local residents, according to plans on the West Craigs Official Website.

Key stops along the new 32 route will include major interchanges such as the Gyle Shopping Centre, Hermiston Gate, Riccarton Park and Ride, and Heriot-Watt University. This will provide convenient access to shopping, transportation hubs, and educational institutions for commuters and students alike.

The current position of the bus stops in Turnhouse Road does not provide a comprehensive service for this whole area. The route only includes a very small section right at the Maybury end of Turnhouse Road. The West Craigs housing development is massive and growing. With no provision planned for car parking spaces the illusion is that residents will take public transport. When these homes are occupied the need for transport will be extensive. The bus route needs to be extended further along to the other end (airport end) of Turnhouse Road and must include provision for long term residents including those residing in Lennymuir. A range of bus services must be arranged to supply demand for all.
